About Manasthala
Manasthala comes from two Sanskrit words, Manas (mind) and Sthala (place), meaning “a place for your mind.” Founded in 2023 by Ajay Kumar Warrier, Manasthala is a mindful living homestay in Gokulam, one of the quietest and most loved parts of Mysore.
People come here when they need to slow down. Some come for rest, some for healing, some just to get away from the rush of everyday life. Whatever brings you here, the place has a way of making you feel at home quickly.
Manasthala offers homestay rooms starting at ₹1,100 per night, Ayurvedic treatments through the Kottakkal Ayurveda Shala in association with Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala, wellness retreats built around yoga, breathwork, and Ayurveda, and regular events like sound baths, yoga nidra, ice plunge workshops, satsangs, and Sunday brunches. The Ayurveda clinic and events are open to outside visitors too, not just people staying at the homestay.
Since 2023, over 1,200 guests have stayed here, with a guest rating of 4.4 stars. It is a small, honest place run with real care, and that is what keeps people coming back.
Values & Lifestyle
Mindfulness
More than just a place to stay. At Manasthala, mindfulness is part of daily life through breathwork sessions, creative workshops, and quiet moments that help you reconnect with yourself.
Community
Community is at the heart of everything here. A shared meal, a morning yoga class, or a quiet chat on the veranda, some of the most meaningful moments at Manasthala happen without any planning at all.
“Manasthala is about living mindfully in the present moment”
The Man Behind Manasthala
Ajay Kumar Warrier spent 45 years living and working in the Middle East, raising a family, building a career, and living life at full speed. When he finally came back to his hometown of Mysore, he did not come back to slow down. He came back to build something real.
Manasthala is that something.
He describes his own journey as moving from a bhogi to a yogi, and says the best part is that he is still on the way. That honesty is exactly what makes this place different. Manasthala was not built to be perfect. It was built to be genuine, a space where people can eat well, meet the right people, and live a little more fully.
